    This is the sixth of 16 annual Commemorative 2 Euro coins to be issued by the German mints between the years 2006 and 2021. Each coin will celebrate a famous landmark in each of the 16 German Federal States. The State for 2011 is North Rhine-Westphalia and the landmark is Cologne Cathedral. The inner part of the coin features the Cologne Cathedral above the words “Nordrhein-Westfalen” to designate the German federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia in which it stands. The 12 stars of the European Union are depicted on the outer ring, together with the year of issue, 2011, at the bottom.
