    Description

Premium Nylon Core Flat Drive Belts for all Heavy 10 (10L and 10R) South Bend Lathe
See Measuring Guide in Photos Above!
If you are currently using the old style leather drive belt for your South Bend Lathe and are tired of it slipping, breaking or if you are sick of listening to it go
    click, click, click
from the alligator fastener contacting the pulley as it is running, then you will be pleased to know that we are now offering a premium US made, industrial quality drive belt specifically made for your lathe.  The belt has a textured SBR rubber face on both sided of the belt and is reinforced by overlapping nylon fabric belts sandwiched in the center to prevent stretching and breakage.  These belts are typically used on higher horsepower machinery for motor to drive power transmission and are a great alternative for vintage machinery that uses a flat belt between the drive unit and the spindle.  The belt DOES NOT require you to remove the spindle on your horizontal drive lathe as you would with an endless belt and it is perfectly suited for all underneath drive lathes where a spliced belt is required.
The  instructions for determining your belt length are included in two easy steps as outlined in the photos above.  Use the "MPN" drop-down menu above to select the belt length of your choice.
Our premium quality belt is sized to your specification (Measure and select your length above) and the the joining surfaces are skived (tapered) on our precision German-made Siegling belt skiving machine.  This machine produces a perfectly tapered overlapping joint which is at least 3" long to provide maximum glue surface.  The long taper produces a joint of superior strength and flexibility.  All materials and step-by-step instructions are included so that there is no guess work.  The only thing you will need to provide is the clamping fixture for gluing which can be made easily from two small aluminum plates or bar stock and 3 small 1 inch "C" clamps.  Illustrations are provided in the manual.  Suggested for the fixture:  2 pieces of aluminum 2" wide x .0125" thick x 5" long and a small scrap of aluminum to provide a stop at the edge of the clamp.
Please note that these belts are all
    1.0"
wide and are sized for the 10L and 10R
    (Heavy Ten)
lathes only.  If you have a model 9" or 10K (often called a Light Ten) then you will need a
    0.75"
wide belt and you can find those listed separately in our ebay store.  Wider belts for the larger 13" to 16" lathes are also coming soon.   If for some reason you don't see the belt length you require or if you have trouble measuring for your belt length, please contact us.  We are always happy to help.
